....about life in the Inchmarlo Continuing Care Retirement Community

| “I was asked to 11 o’clock morning coffee by one of my neighbours. Suddenly someone asked, “If you won £1 million at the lottery tomorrow, where would you choose to live?”
Silence ... a long pause, and someone said “Well it sounds unadventurous but I´d stay right here”. Without exception we all agreed. That's the kind of place you run.” |

| In February of next year I will have been ten years in Pinefield. I have been very happy here in such a lovely estate. Every season I have walked through the gardens - even in the snow it is beautiful. A wee red squirrel comes to my patio door for nuts and a drink in the bird bath. I am so glad I came here. It keeps me young and fit as I approach my 89th birthday. My sons and grandsons who visit here are all happy that I am happy and can get help if and when I need it from Inchmarlo House." |

“I have been here in Pinefield over two years now and I would like you to know how very happy I have been. My life is so much fuller in every way. I have made good friends and have appreciated the kindly help of your security staff. I have found all your staff so friendly and caring. My sons, who have visited here with their families, share my feeling and are happy to know I am happy and secure. |

| “May I just tell you that, in a long life, I have never found myself in a group of people so charming, kindly and helpful as the staff, inside and out, in Inchmarlo. I am sure that I am the luckiest man in Scotland.” |

| "Having completed our first year at Inchmarlo, we would just like to say how much we are enjoying our new surroundings. The beautiful grounds, especially the gardens and magnificent trees, give endless pleasure, and the wildlife with its rich variety is a constant source of interest. We have been so impressed by the amenities here and have enjoyed the excellent meals and entertainment on many occasions where we have been so impressed by the friendliness of the staff, home owners and residents alike - a good indication of a happy and contented atmosphere. Any small problems that have arisen have been swiftly and competently dealt with." |

| "I felt I had to write to thank you, and every single member of staff at Inchmarlo House, for the wonderful care Dad has received in the past three and a half years. Whether it has been nursing and personal care from the nurses and carers; wonderful meals from the kitchen staff; clean and tidy surroundings provided by the cleaning staff and those working in the gardens; practical help with security staff; washing and ironing by those in charge of the laundry; friendly chat with staff in reception - everything has been of an excellent standard and has helped to make Dad's stay at Inchmarlo both comfortable and enjoyable. In addition to all this, the affection shown by the staff towards Dad has perhaps been the most touching of all, and is greatly appreciated by myself and the rest of the family. We could not have wished for a better place for Dad to have spent his final years." |

| "I am writing to thank you for all the care and happiness you have given my mother in the last few years of her life. She moved into Inchmarlo House, another adventure for her and such a happy one. "I haven't been cared for like this since I was a baby" was the comment that stays with me. Our pleasure in visiting her never diminished. From top to bottom Inchmarlo made us welcome, laughter being a strong memory." |

| “A very big thank you for the wonderful caring way you looked after my mother-in-law. Everything about the home was excellent - the food, the care, the cleanliness and support from all the staff. The kindness of nursing staff and the patience of the reception staff all went to making my mother-in-law´s last four months as happy as possible.” | |

| "I have no doubt that Mother's life was greatly enhanced by the kind care given by the care wing staff. Mother had a very long illness but I found the 'continuous care' concept completely filled her needs. Starting with her flat at Queen Victoria Park, then her rooms in the House. We also enjoyed the gardens, and every spring I took her into the old garden with the splendid trees, azaleas, poppies, and flowering shrubs." "It's hard to believe that Grandma had been in Inchmarlo for nearly 20 years. I couldn't let her passing go without writing to you all to thank you for the wonderful care and support you gave her, especially in the last few years." |

| “Inchmarlo is for us a dream realised. We had been searching around England for a retirement village along the lines of ones where we had personal knowledge of overseas. Now each day we reiterate our good fortune in finding Inchmarlo. Once again many thanks for your determination to maintain a vision which seems almost unique in this country. Long may it continue.” | |

| "Thank you and all the devoted nurses and carers who looked after my Mother so beautifully during her last - sometimes difficult - years in Inchmarlo House. She really regarded you as her family in the end - she loved you all - knew you all by name - and depended on you absolutely. You all showed her such kindness, gentleness and patience." | |

| "My Mother felt safe and loved by the staff at Inchmarlo in the last few weeks of her life so thank you so much, nothing could have been more peaceful. Thank you so much for being our Mother's extended family over the years. She was always so happy. We miss her." |

| "We watched my Father become more confident, enjoying the beautiful food, obviously knowing that everyone there was looking after him, even on the more difficult days, and more importantly looking after his beloved wife. He really wanted Mum to have the very best in life and he realised he was no longer able to look after him properly. He did appreciate how much the move to Inchmarlo had made a difference to his wife as well as himself. All the housekeeping personnel at the House are fantastic. The rooms are always sparkling clean, fresh smelling, with laundry and maintenance just first class. That care of the beautiful building is much appreciated, and remarked on, by families and visitors as well as inhabitants. It is a huge house, but the care and attention put into the upkeep is remarkable. Thank you all. The gardens are also beautiful, and so well tended. Keep up the good work of Inchmarlo. It is a remarkable place." |

| “Although it is not easy to give up your home and move into a nursing home, everyone made the transition as painless as possible for my Mother, and she was most grateful for that. She valued the staff highly and was often heard to say how nice they were, how they cheered her up when she was low, and how she enjoyed her many discussions with them on various topics. I did not meet all the staff involved in my Mother's care. Some I got to know quite well, and I enclose personal letters of thanks to them, which I would like you to pass on. Again, many thanks for making my Mother's stay at Inchmarlo such a comfortable experience.” |

| "I am writing to thank all the staff who looked after my grandmother whilst she was in your care. I wish to express my gratitude for all you have done for her over the past years. Thank you for your love, care and most importantly, compassion towards her. I loved my grandmother dearly and it was a comfort to see her so well looked after in her declining years.” |

| "My grandparents moved from Yorkshire to Aberdeenshire and then into Inchmarlo House when they were in their 70s. After Grandad died, Grandma continued to live in the House until her death having lived in the House for a total of 19 years. She was extremely happy there and always said "this is my home and I am so lucky to live in such beautiful surroundings and be cared for so lovingly." |

| ...about catering in Inchmarlo House "I write to say how delighted I was with all aspects of the organisation of my 21+ birthday party. The Chef and his staff really did us proud. I am not a soup person but I think the majority took the soup and were ecstatic about it. His chicken liver pate, which I took, is to die for and certainly as good as anything France can produce. The birthday cake (which the Chef had the good taste not to decorate with 60 candles) received the ultimate accolade from a guest who said it was a superb butter sponge "and I can tell" quoth she! I could go on and on because everything was perfect." |
